OHSU graduate students serve on numerous committees that discuss and vote on policies and issues that directly impact Graduate Studies and graduate student life (ex. student health insurance, stipend levels, graduate course offerings). All-Hill Student Council: The All-Hill Student Council is the governing body of all OHSU students and serves as the liaison between students, faculty, and administration throughout the OHSU campus. All schools and programs are represented by electing students to serve as class delegates. Delegates serve on committees across campus, host student events throughout the year, and keep fellow students informed of important happenings that directly affect campus life.

Committee on Academic Policy: The policy component of the Office of Academic Programs, Policy and Accreditation is to draft new policies and procedures regarding academic affairs and student life, in order to recommend university-wide policies and procedures and to work with units to revise existing policies and procedures. Many stakeholders within the education mission of OHSU participate in the development and revision of academic policies. Policies are presented to the Committee on Academic Policy (CAP) for review and approval on a quarterly basis. CAP consists of faculty, academic administrators, a Faculty Senator, a student, members from the Office of the Provost and the Office of General Counsel.

Graduate Council: The Graduate Council meets monthly, is chaired by the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, and is composed of one member from each School of Medicine graduate program and GSO officers (the GSO officially has two votes on this Council). The Council advises the Dean of the School of Medicine on all matters pertaining education of graduate students. The Council discusses issues including standards for admission to graduate programs, graduate curricula, requirements for graduation, graduate faculty appointments, administration of Conjoint courses, and establishing graduate stipend policies.

Graduate Program Steering Committee (GPS): The Graduate Program Steering Committee advises the Associate Dean on all matters relevant to Graduate Council. This includes vetting of ideas, editing documents, crafting proposals and gathering information.

OHSU Policy Advisory Committee: This committee discusses, proposes, and implements University-wide policies.

School of Medicine Alumni Association: The Alumni Council leads alumni association activities and represents the alumni perspective to the OHSU School of Medicine administration. The Alumni Association has historically supported current OHSU students, including graduate students, through their sponsorship of various awards and events.

Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC): SHAC serves as a forum for student voices working alongside JBT Health & Wellness Center staff to help ensure that student health care needs are met. This committee meets monthly during the academic year. SHAC representatives participate in the insurance review and renewal process which includes medical, dental and vision coverage. SHAC makes recommendations about how to balance requests for new benefits while maintaining affordable health insurance for all students.

Gender Equity: The Gender Equity Center was founded in 2018 and is an interprofessional group of OHSU learners working together to address the impact of power and privilege on gender equity at OHSU and beyond. They take action through policy, education, outreach, advocacy, and research, centering the voices of those with lived experience. The organizing committee meets monthly during the academic year to address these issues in order to provide a more safe and just community at OHSU.

Women in Science (WIS): The Portland Women in Science Organization provides professional and personal development opportunities to early career scientists and professionals, particularly students and postdocs, placing special emphasis on the support and growth of women in science. These goals will be met through informative workshops, community outreach, networking opportunities, and other programming designed to promote healthy and productive environments for addressing issues related to the development and retention of women in science.
